A very attractive antique gilt bronze desk standish with a reclining lady. In the typical Louis XVth style this standish is in the fullblown rococco style. Excellent original gilding and in excellent condition throughout. The lady is seated on a platform with scrolling bracket feet and is leaning slightly backwards. She has roses in her hands and she is wearing a long classical style robe.. Beside her is a large basket with ring handles within which are two inkwells with gilt bronze covers. To the side is a pen holder in the form of a flower. French circa 1880. 9 inches high by 11 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep ( 22.5 cm by 27.5 cm by 18.75 cm).
