Antique Charles X miniature ormolu clock of Pandora on musical base by Alibert. The figure seated above the clock dial and holding a box which she is about to open. Beside her is an oil lamp and below and to her right a quiver of arrows. The movement for the clock is an 8 day timepiece movement with silk suspended pendulum ( original). It is signed on the backplate "Alibert a Paris" and numbered 154 with a heart and also numbered on the bezel. The dial is silvered bronze and the hands are of blued steel and of Breguet moon form.. Two tune pull wind musical movement to base numbered 16617. The mother of pearl plaque signed in script "Changer" and "Jouer" and then below "Alibert a Paris". This is a seriously lovely base described to me prior to purchase as being a walnut base. This is anything but walnut and is in fact " Bees wing" satinwood from the West Indies. There are two lines of ebony stringing around the circumference. Excellent quality throughout. France circa 1830. Height 12 inches . Circa 1830.
