Boulle is a difficult and painstaking craft when working in two mediums ( usually tortoiseshell and brass) on the normal scale. This has been cut on the miniature scale in three mediums ( tortoiseshell, brass and pewter)#To the front of the case can be seen the popular boulle motif of a merman blowing on a shell trumpet.
