Antique French porcelain and ormolu mantel clock with Sevres style panels of exceptional quality.

The elegant Louis XVIth style case with a fine ormolu mounted porcelain urn to the top of the clock, porcelain pillars to the sides, each with a porcelain finial surmounted by an ormolu bud. The porcelain dial with white hour chapters and fully jewelled.
Below the dial are two superb and unusual porcelain panels of seascapes or seaside scenes.
The one immediately below the dial show a young couple walking beside the rough sea on the "mole", with boats in the distance and a fort on the clifftop.
The lower panel shows a harbour scene with a dinghy being pulled up by two men in the forground with their ship in the background. Further out, a harbour wall or "mole", with masts showing behind. There are houses and another fort on the left hand side.
It is unusual to find such exceptionally well painted panels on mantel clocks. These really are of fine detail and quality.
The movement is of 8 days duration and strikes the hours and halves on a bell by means of rack striking. The movement is stamped for the well known company Japy Freres.
Interestingly the case is numbered 61547 and the numbers also match those on the movement and also on the original pendulum.
France circa 1860-80.

The clock has been cleaned and is in full working order. It is antique, key wound and comes with key and pendulum and is guaranteed.
