Spectacular antique Viennese silver and jewelled clock of young couple picking fruit from a tree. A wonderful exuberant clock from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and in the classic Rococco style. The solid silver clock of elaborate design with its broad base held on four splayed feet. The case festooned with rubies, emerals and saphires and with varous types and sizes of pearls including baroque. The clock dial and movement sit in a drum shape with rococco swirls and the tree rises up above it. The figure of a young man in breeches and jacket stands at the top of a ladder leaning against the clock case picking fruit. His jacket is covered with red jewels while his breeches are decorated in blue. His lady companion stands upon the base with her hand on the clock case looking up at the tree. She wears a jewelled bodice, a long swirling skirt decorated in jewels of all colours in star shaped recesses. To the top of the clock is a lapis lazuli and silver jewelled "crown of the tree", with the top with open strapwork decorated with all manner of jewelling and in profusion. The movement is Swiss, of fine quality and jewelled. The dial is silver and has blued steel hands. Vienna, late 19th century. 10 inches high by 6 inches wide by3.75 inches deep ( 25 cm by 15 cm by 9.375 cm).
