Antique English pair of patinated bronze and statuary marble candlesticks of Owls. Probably English Regency, each having the massive threaded rods typical of the period with pierced circular nuts. Set on a circular white statuary marble base with patinated bronze moulding. The stem a cylinder of white marble capped with a patinated bronze top with concentric circles of knurling. The well modelled and finished stylised owl stands on two feet looking straight ahead with his wings down. An Acanthus petalled drip pan lies below the candle sconce which is ribbed but also has identical decoration to the insert. English crca 1810-20. 9.5 inches high 3.5 inch diameter at the base ( 23.75 cm by 8.75 cm).
