Antique tortoiseshell and silver pique mantel clock, by the master of silver pique work, William Comyns.
A lovely case set on four silver feet with a harebell motif running around the bottom of the case which has plain silver sides. The front however is of blond tortoiseshell with pique work below the dial and in the upper spandrel corners.
The case sweeps up towards the handle with further tortoiseshell inlaid.
To the upper centre is a white enmel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands.
The timepiece movement in perfect working order is of 8 day duration with platform lever escapement and integral swivel key.
Hallmarked for William Comyns, London 1912.
6.5 inches high by 3.5 inches wide by 3.25 inches deep ( 16.25 cm by 8.75 cm by 8.125 cm).
