Original bright gilding with the extraquality indication of silver highlights 9 look especially at the last photo). Three panels of bleu celeste porcelain in the base of flowers and a courting couple. An ormolu mounted porcelain urn above the clock with a bud finial. A lovely dial of bleu celeste porcelain with white hour cartouches, gilt bronze hands and painted to the centre with a flying cupid figure above musical trophies. All the fine jewelling around the dial is present. Eight day movement striking the hours and halves on a cast bell. The movement, case and pendulum all numbered 30974. The clock still retains not only the original giltwood base but as also has the original ebonised wooden base and glass dome. Signed on the dial for the retailer Ellis, Exeter. France circa 1880. 15 inches high by 12 inches wide by 4.75 inches wide ( 37.5 cm by 30 cm by 11.875) on base.
