Antique French Empire ormolu figural two branch candelabrum of outstanding quality celebrating wine and viticulture.
The candelabrum is of original ormolu and is set upon a square base with a stiff leaf and dart moulding. This rises to a waisted and tapered stem heavily decorated with various patterns in three distinct areas.
The stem rises to a ball on which the figure of a beautiful classically draped bacchante stands on one foot.
She stands with her hands aloft and holds a thyrsus decorated with vine leaves and grapes and at each end of which is a beautifully decorated candleholder still with original drip pan.
To the centre of the thyrsus is mounted an ormolu finial constructed of iconic objects from the Bacchanal, Pan pipes, cymbals, tambourine, wine jug, grapes, tazza and vine leaves.
