A fine "New Sculpture " bronze signed and dated 1910 by C H Barr an American artist working in Connecticut.
This is a beautiful and soulful study of the face of a young girl, her hair drawn back from her face by a hairclip.
As well as the sculptors name and date it has the foundry mark for Bureau Brothers stamped on her shoulder.
Achille and Edouard Bureau, French immigrants who developed their foundry in Philadelphia from about 1870 and where it was for many years one of the most important "Art" foundries in the USA.
