Antique animalier bronze of a Goat and Kid by Emmanuel Fremiet, a very fine subject by this superb animalier sculptor. Set upon a long oval base the nanny goat stands guard over her newborn kid. Beautiful treatment of the goats fur and fine patination make this a bronze to linger over. Signed in the bronze. French late 19th century. Emmanuel Fremiet 1824-1910. He was a member of Royal Academy and succeeded Barye as Professor of animal drawing at the Natural History Museum 6.5 inches high by 11 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep ( 17.5 cm by 27 cm by 11.25 cm).
