Antique bronze of Italian Rennaissance general Bartolomeo Colleoni on his warhorse set on marble stand.
A very good and detailed version in patinated bronze of this much copied sculpture by Andrea del Verrocchio of the Condottiero Colleoni, a former Captain General of the Republic of Venice who died in 1475.
Colleoni left the bequest to pay for the statue and it was begun in 1479. However Verrucchio died before completion.
It is a beautiful and detailed version and shows the power of the horse and indded it's rider the ruthless and powerful military commander Colleoni.
