Antique English George III patinated bronze and ormolu Gout d'Egypt clock of Isis. Both case and movement are English.
The superb figure of Isis is seated on a bronze trapezoide plinth with applied ormolu mounts of bulls to each side. The linth sits upon another with an applied ormolu mount to the front, depicting Zeus with thunder bolts.
She is naked except for some drapes that cover her legs and have hieroglyphics to the front. The clock itself sits upon her lap.
She wears an elaborate head dress and heavy necklace.
The dial of the clock is of gilt bronze and the numerals are Arabic. The hands are blued steel and unusually
The movement itself is a fine and small English fusee movement with original fusee chain and having flat bottoms to the movement plates.
The front plate is signed Nicoll 117 Gt Portland Str.
For William Nicoll 117 Gt. Portland Street, London. Baillie has him working here from 1790-1825.
