A beautiful Art Nouveau gilt bronze sculpture of La Muse des Bois or 'The muse of the woods', by Albert Lefeuvre and stamped with the foundry stamp 'Siot-Decauville Fondeur Paris'. Also numbered'P445'. The figure of the muse, learning against a tree and playing pipes is set upon a green marble base. The quality of the features, especially seen in her face is exquisite. The gilt bronze is entirely original, and uncleaned. Born in Paris Albert-Lefeuvre learned his craft from the famous French sculptors Augustin-Alexandre Dumont (1801-1884) and Jean Alexandre Joseph Falguière (1831-1900). 36 and a half cm tall
