Antique Thomas Cole Rectangular Strut Clock no. 1523. High quality strut clock by this eminent maker. Perfect condition. Numbered and dated on back of case. Signed Thos Cole on front of dial. This particular numbered clock is listed in 'Thomas Cole and Victorian Clockmaking by J.B. Hawkins pp. 38. This case has the turnbuckle foot and folding handle. The turnbuckle foot is on an axle, so the clock can sit straight up, or leaning further backwards. The beautifully engraved and silvered dial, has fleur de lys hands. 8 day movement with lever escapement.With fitted leather case. With handle fully raised, 15cm High, by 2.3cm deep by 10.2cm wide Circa 1858
