An attractive antique Palais Royal mother of pearl and ormolu inkwell celebrating viticulture. Set on four ormolu bun feet, the circular, mother of pearl base is engraved with flowers and foliage, surrounded by the ormolu ring. The dancing bacchante, very finely cast in ormolu, stands holding a bunch of grapes, with more in her hair, and what looks to be a horn, perhaps filled with wine in her other hand. The two hinged baskets, are cast as if filled with bunches of grapes, with pen holders to the front and back. An interesting and very attractive piece. French circa 1820-30 14cm High by 15cm long and 11cm deep
