Antique French Industrial Foundryman Mantel clock by Guilmet
Rare antique Industrial Foundryman Clock of a workman operating a steamhammer by A.R. Guilmet. The steamhammer which is actually part of the compound pendulum moves vertically up and down. The pendulum receives it's propulsion remotely from the clock movement by a series of levers. The clock housing, the copper finish, and all stands upon a black slate base. The boilerhouse is to the left and the steam hammer to the right. The movement is of 8 day duration and strikes the hours and halves on a gong. Movement is stamped on the backplate Medaille D'Or GLT Btf SG G Paris for Guilmet and numbered 2207. Also stamped Medaille de Bronze, S. Marti et Cie for Samuel Marti, who supplied the movement to Guilmet. A very rare, and fascinating antique clock. France circa 1890. 16.25" High by 12.75" wide and 8" deep
