Silver and orange guilloche enamel sub miniature carriage or boudoir clock, most unusual in having an alarm. Set in its leather and satin lined carrying case, marked for the retailers J. Knewitz Hof Juwelier, Mainz. Very fine quality guilloche enamel covering four sides, with sun or starburst engine turned decoration. The orange guilloche enamel is an extremely rare colour, and one we haven't come across before. The white enamel dial with arabic numerals which are also painted orange. The unusual minute and hour hands, with fine half moon alarm set pointer. The high quality 8 day movement with bell and lever escapement. The inside door of the case is numbered 205137 and 45, whilst the bottom of the case is marked Argent, silver rating of 0.935, numbered 5945, makers mark shaped like a clock with initials S F G, and with the rampant bear silver mark, which shows it was made in Switzerland between 1882 and 1934.
