Antique French Restauration period Ormolu Centrepiece. Fabulous quality piece of impressive size, the mercury gilt fired ormolu is entirely original. Set upon a circular base, with finely cast anthemion. Set round the base are fine ormolu mounts depicting lyres and garlands. Just above, is a border in burnished ormolu, and slightly further up, is a concentric pattern of guilloche decoration. The three figures, are very finely cast, and hold wreaths in their hands. Possibly nympths, but almost certainly representing Psyche, due to the butterfly wings. A central stem with further anthemion patterning, leads up to the central cup. The bottom of the cup, is burnished ormolu, leading to anthemion patterning, and above concentric vertical lined patterns, before a further line of burnished ormolu, and further anthemion patterning, below a further burnished bright ormolu border. The splayed upper half of the cup in a basket shape is beautifully pieced and with a very fine and attractive rim decorated with guilloche patterning. France circa 1815-20 Wonderful quality piece. 18.25 inches High
