Antique Thomas Cole inkwell with clock. This very unusual and rare piece is designed to look like a lotus flower, opening the lid reveals the inkwell and clock. A high quality piece by this eminent maker. The base, with very good quality engraving, appears as a lotus leaf. The case, also with very good detail. The clock itself, of 8 day duration with platform lever escapement, is signed on the movement 'THOs. COLE. LONDON.' and numbered 'no. 1111'. The beautifully engraved silvered dial, in typical Cole style, with fleur de lys hands. The top of the case unscrews, to allow winding and setting of the clock, with its original key. Due to Coles numbering system, this piece can be dated to 1853. A high quality and unusual piece. 16cm Wide by 16cm Deep and 11cm High
