Antique Miniature Automaton Industrial Lighthouse Clock by Guilmet with duplex escapement

Antique Miniature Automaton Industrial Lighthouse Clock by Guilmet with duplex escapement
A very fine example of this rare and smallest of Guilmets lighthouse clocks from his industrial series. Interestingly, the movement is numbered in various places 132, making this one of Guilmets earliest clocks. André Romain Guilmet made a series of industrial themed clocks, and produced his industrial clocks in Paris from 1875 to 1910. Resting on a gilt bronze based, which rises up to the square tier, in silvered bronze, a further gilt bronze base, before again rising up to the silvered bronze main case. The wonderful brick work pattern gives a superb look. The gilt bronze bezel surrounds the white enamel dial with spade hands. The eight-day movement is regulated with a duplex escapement, the balance forming the oscillating lens that reflects light at the top. This is constructed with glass rods which give the effect of flashing light, as a lighthouse would. To the base of the glass rods, is the very fine fence in gilt bronze, with fine detailing. Due to its small size, it makes a wonderful desk piece, and the revolving light is superb. A wonderful and unusual industrial clock from Guilmet. French circa 1875. 24cm High
