A very sweet Palais Royal engraved mother of pearl and ormolu shell shaped sewing necessaire. Exceptional quality Palais Royal workmanship in this necessaire, and small size make it a very sweet piece. The piece has a very fine ormolu frame, in bands of decorated and engraved entwined mythical serpents, grapes and vine leafs. The top has fine pattening in the ormolu and fineley engraved work to the mother of pearl shell. Set upon four ormolu paw feet. Releasing the catch to the front, opens to reveal the contents comprising mother-of pearl and silver gilt ( or gold ) sewing implements in fitted lined and compartmentalised interior. This is a superb quality and very sweet piece. The mother-of-pearl lid has one small surface crack. France circa 1830 13cm wide by 5cm High and 11.5cm Deep
