Antique Palais Royal mother of pearl and ormolu taper holder. Modelled in the form of Cupid or a cherub, cloaked and hooded, as a monk, using a walking stick, and the taper holder on his back depicted as a sheaf of wheat. Set upon a fine ormolu base engraved and pattened with forget me not flowers, surrounding the mother of pearl platform. The fineley engraved mother of pearl base cupid stand upon is engraved with pattens and plants. This is an extremely fine quality piece, the casting and chasing of superb quality, in original ormolu and engraved mother of pearl showing of the skills of the Palais royal.
