A very fine silver repousse striking carriage clock. This superb clock is by the most eminent of London makers, William Comyns. Silver hallmarked for London 1887. Wonderful detail on the silver case work, depicting Ho Ho birds on the dial, front, sided and back of the case, the dial retains it gilding, with roman numerals and breguet style hands. The 8 day clock with platform lever escapement strikes the halfs and hours, a rare feature for a Comyns clock. The movement numbered 8861 and with clock makers mark A.M within a cartouche. The glass to the front is beveled, another sign of quality. Silver marks in various places, including handle, side and back with W.C makers mark for William Comyns, London silver marks, date mark for 1887. A rare clock. 14.5cm high(not including handle) by 9cm wide and 7.5cm deep
