A fine French Grand Tour patinated bronze group of Dionysus with a faun by his feet. Good quality casting, There is pleasing bleeding of the patination where one would expect, giving a good colour to the piece. Dionysus is the god of the grape harvest, winemaking, orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, festivity and theatre, with the roman equivilent with Bacchus. 30cm High French circa 1880
