An extraordinarily fine silver gilt sub miniature carriage or travel clock, in guilloche enamel, set upon Lapis Lazuli base. Of Moorish or Gothic design, and of tiny size, the superb case decorated on four sides with panels of lilac guilloche enamel, with superb engine turned designs. He panels seperated by straps of engraved silver gilt and mounted with white jewelling. The silver dial signed "Hamilton & Co., Calcutta" for the retailer. Hamilton & Co. was formed in 1817, and became known for fine objects, were a well known retailer in Victorian and Edwardian periods. Fine eight day movement with lever escapement, signed oval dial and hands in gold. In rectangular blue guilloche and white cloisonne enamel silver gilt case, raised upon stepped rectangular lapis lazuli base with bracket feet, back impressed maker mark "J.T.C." (Geneva Clock Co.) and further marks "Argent Dore" and "0.935", numbered 6965, Swiss made, and the rampant bear Swiss silver mark. Circa 1900 height 6.5cm
