A very rare and fine Charles X period pair of mother of pearl and ormolu ring stands, depicting Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday. Set upon wooden bases with engraved mother of pearl, the figures of Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday depicted holding ormolu and mother of pearl umbrellas, with hooks to hang rings around the edge. Currently with lucky charms hanging. Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday were two characters of Daniel Defoe's 1719 novel. Robinson Crusoe names the man Friday, with whom he cannot at first communicate, because they first meet on that day. A superb and rare pair, especially as they are still together French circa 1825 15cm High by 9cm diameter
